Casual Overnight Support Workers - Occasional

Seeking overnight support workers - possibly 3

MUST be ok with indoor cats as we have 7 of them!!!

Work is 24 hour shifts 9am till 9am the next day.

You do get to sleep - what time depends on when you manage to get them to bed!! They sleep in till late in the morning.

Although it may be broken sleep - with occasional wake-ups for comfort or bed changes etc.

MUST be experienced working with children in teens and experienced teaching life skills, cooking, cleaning and general safety and common sense.

MUST be able to commit to shifts and stick with them as our respite break depends on this - and we cant simply cancel or change our break-away (which is often prebooked with flights) - so we need committed support workers only PLEASE.

This period is for March 2019.

There will be occasional work after this, mainly day work but occasional nights till the next respite or family break away in approx August when we will need support workers again (or to come with us on family break - we usually take 2 support workers with us).

The children are 20 down to 10 and all are ASD + EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - hypermobility plus internal medical issues). Some also have Intellectual disabilities / coeliac / anaphylactic allergies / asthmatic.

Not ALL children stay during 24 hour shifts - usually just 4 or like this shift only 3 will be staying, the other two are going with us.

I require a person who has perfect english due to some of the childrens language abilities and issues understanding language. Slight accent ok but must have perfect english.***

Work will be assisting with hygiene prompting (some in nappies) and some physical assistance (teeth/showers), cooking meals, house cleaning, generally amusing and making safe the environment and care for the children while we are away.

The goal is to make thier break as much fun as our break (we will be taking two of the children with us) so you will be minding only 3 children this time .......... it gives the kids a break from each other - as they can fight a lot.

The children staying will be 14/17 and 18. They are well-behaved children, but require support in all areas with personal care, housework, cooking and general care of the property and cats etc.

Activities can include lots of cooking and playing board games, swimming in the pool - if you know how to play "Magic" the card game they will love you all the more!

Sensitive, kind and VERY responsible people are required.

Please email resume (or a letter) to me via PM, detailing experience and qualifications etc.

Days of work are semi-flexible - you can work 1 x 24 hour shift or multiple per week - ALWAYS with 1 other support worker who will be experienced with the children already. You are NEVER left alone!

You will be required to do a couple of day shifts to get comfortable with the children before any overnight shifts are done. This is paid at $25-$30 an hour depending on qualifications. Normal 24 hour shifts are $400 flat rate.
