NDIS in the ACT
The NDIS commenced in the ACT on 1 July 2014 for people up to age 65. We are bringing people into the Scheme in a gradual way to ensure our staff, operations and services are ready to be delivered effectively and sustainably. See below for the ACT transition timetable.
Who can access the Scheme?
A person with an impairment that is likely to be permanent and the impairment makes it difficult to take part in everyday activities, can access the Scheme. A person needs to meet disability or early intervention requirements, as well as age and residence requirements.
If you are an existing client of a disability service, the NDIA will contact you about transitioning into the Scheme. Existing national and state-based services and supports will continue until eligible people start their plan with the NDIS.
You may meet the access requirements up to six months prior to the NDIS rolling out in your area.
