More Information on Music Psychotherapy:
Music psychotherapy is the use of music within a client and therapist relationship to promote the client’s emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual growth and healing.
This method combines instrumental and vocal improvisation, singing, songwriting, listening to recorded music and talk therapy. Music and psychotherapy integrated provide a creative and musical space for healing and awareness.
Music psychotherapy can be particularly useful for those who are creatively-oriented or find verbal expression challenging. Simon works with children, teens and adults to bring healing and awareness to grief, anxiety, depression, trauma and other challenges in a way that is creative and can also be non-verbal.
Research has found music to be therapeutic and beneficial in treating depression, anxiety, grief, rehabilitating speech, brain injury and neurological disorders, as well as increasing balance, motor-neural functioning and processing trauma.
